PSHE & RHE at Milford Junior School

Charlie Mackesy

Here at Milford Junior School, we value PSHE and RHE as one way to support children’s development as human beings, to enable them to understand and respect who they are, to empower them with a voice and to equip them for life and learning.  To ensure progression, we use and adapt lessons from Coram Life Education’s SCARF programme, to support our children’s learning.

All children are taught a PSHE/RHE lesson every week as well as a weekly ‘Mental well-being’ activity.  Our lessons promote discussion activities where children are able to express their views and opinions in a safe, secure and accepting environment.  Mental well-being activities include meditation, mindful colouring, breathing and visualisation exercises, sharing a picture or video and listening to relaxing music.

The skills and attributes learnt will not only equip our pupils with the skills to make informed decisions and opinions but also help them to stay healthy, safe, unlock their academic potential and enable them to be resilient and self-motivated in all aspects of their life.
